Mobility and Exchange Outgoing

ENLIGHT

ENLIGHT invites students at the University of Bern to participate in the new Erasmus+ joint mobility courses.

Would you like to study for one or two semesters at one of our ENLIGHT partner universities? Please find more information about semester mobility programs under the tab "Overview".

ENLIGHT Courses

Please check the Overview of ENLIGHT Joint Courses to see the full list of available ENLIGHT courses and their application requirements. Be aware of the important distinction between three categories of courses:

  • Blended Courses (BIPs): These are courses that have both virtual and on-site components. They are eligible for grants and require an application through Mobility-Online.
  • Virtual Courses: These are courses that do not have a blended component and take place only virtually. They are not eligible for grants and require an application through Mobility-Online.
  • Summer/Winter Schools: These are courses that do not have a blended component and take place only on-site. They are not eligible for grants and do not require an application through Mobility-Online.

Course recognition

Do you want to know in which UniBE study programs the ENLIGHT Joint Courses (Spring 2025) can be recognized? Check this overview.

Application deadlines

  • For courses taking place in Autumn/ Winter: 1 March - 15 April 2024
  • For courses taking place in Spring/ Summer: 1 October - 15 November 2024

Before you apply

  • Check carefully that you meet all the requirements listed by the host university.
  • Make sure you speak to your departmental coordinator or directorates of studies to clarify your options and credit recognition for your studies at the University of Bern by signing a learning agreement.
  • Make sure that you are enrolled at the University of Bern for the duration of the course. We do not recommend enrolling if you are in your final semester and want the course to be accredited in your degree program. The transfer of the course and the credits received takes time and requires you to be enrolled at the University of Bern. If your enrolment ends in the meantime, you won't be able to receive the credits or you will have to prolong your studies for another semester.

Application process

The application for blended mobility courses (courses that have both virtual and on-site components) is submitted electronically through Mobility-Online.

The application for virtual courses is submitted electronically through Mobility-Online.

The application for Summer/Winter Schools does not require registration through Mobility-Online. First, please check If there are registration instructions provided by the host university on the ENLIGHT Joint Courses Overview. If there are no instructions, please contact the UniBE ENLIGHT Mobility coordinator via: jurga.kveksaite@unibe.ch.

Selection and notification

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application at the end of the application period. Places are limited and your application is final. If for any unforeseen reason, you are unable to attend you must inform us immediately so that your place can be offered to another student. Students who have not been offered a place on their chosen course will be placed on a waiting list.

  • You will be nominated to the host university that offers the course. Afterwards the host university will contact you and will send you the application information. Please read all the instructions carefully. You may be asked to include your academic transcript of records and the learning agreement (signed by you and your home university) with your application. If you have any questions about the application, you should first contact your coordinator at the International Office at the host university unless otherwise communicated.
  • Once the host university has received and processed your application, you will receive an admission decision. The processing time for courses varies between host universities, so it may take some time before you receive your admission decision. Please note that although we offer you the opportunity to enroll on an ENLIGHT course, it is always the host university that decides whether or not you meet the requirements for admission.
  • Once you have received your admission decision, you can start preparing for your course, including activities such as finding accommodation and transport to your destination.
  • Students who are taking an ENLIGHT course abroad will need to arrange their own accommodation and travel to and from the location of the physical part of their blended mobility on their own.
  • Only students participating in blended mobility courses (courses that have both virtual and on-site components) are eligible for grants of:
    • Up to 500 CHF – for courses lasting up to 11 days (excluding the travel days)
    • Up to 1000 CHF – for courses lasting 12 days or longer (including the weekend in between but excluding the travel days)
  • Grants will be paid out after the course has taken place. To receive the grant, a confirmation of participation and receipts for the actual travel and accommodation costs must be uploaded to Mobility-Online.
  • These grant amounts are set for the academic year of 2024/25. Later on, grant amounts and application procedures might differ.

Once you have completed your ENLIGHT course, you will receive a transcript of records. Please note that the transfer of ECTS credits does not happen automatically. Please submit the transcript of records and previously signed learning agreement to your departmental coordinator.
